Partner and Head of Litigation
Barry became an Equity Partner in Brand & Co in 2003, having joined the firm in 1993 after completing his Articles with London firm Philip Conway Thomas. Barry changed professions after being an Engineer / Site Agent in the construction industry. Barry cover most areas of litigation, including Commercial, Property (including the increasingly popular TOLATA claims), Landlord and Tenant (for both landlords and tenants), Insolvency (both company and personal) and Employment.
Partner and Head of the Family Department
Jacqueline joined Brand & Co in 2008 having spent the previous 10 years at a Legal 500 firm in West Sussex. Jacqueline became a partner at Brand & Co in 2011. Jacqueline has for the last 18 years dealt solely with family law and has a wealth of knowledge and experience in this field. Jacqueline has a large matrimonial client base. Her expertise in the field of matrimonial practice extends to dealing with substantial high net worth financial disputes, pre-nuptial agreements, injunctions, cohabitation disputes and advising on civil partnerships. Jacqueline also undertakes all work in relation to sensitive children matters, including child arrangement applications. Outside of the office Jacqueline enjoys keeping fit and in particular, enjoys playing tennis. Jacqueline is married and has three young sons.
Private Client, Consultant
James Mackenzie was admitted as a solicitor in Scotland in 1978 and in England and Wales in 1993. He is very experienced in all private client matters. After moving from Edinburgh to London in 1996 he worked for a number of city firms before joining the Private Client Department of Vivash Brand as a solicitor in October 2013.
James deals mainly with Inheritance Tax advice, Wills, Probate and Estate Administration and Lasting Powers of Attorney.
Partner and Head of Private Client
Desirella Watkins qualified as a solicitor in 2007 and has been practising in Private Client law since then. She specialises in Wills, application for Deputyship Orders and Grants of Representation and administering Estates following a death.
Partner and Head of Commercial Property
Mahadi qualified as a barrister and then he qualified as a solicitor in 2013. Having worked with both East End and West End firms in London, Mahadi has acquired technical skills and developed key industry contacts. Mahadi has also achieved an MBA which enables him to provide a wide range of business related professional services. His key expertise lies in dealing with acquisition and disposal of all types of commercial properties, in particular – negotiating new leases; assignment of existing leases together with purchase or sale of small businesses; purchase and sale of freehold properties, and landlord and tenant related matters.
Head of Residential Property
Kemi joined Vivash Brand LLP in December 2018 as Head of Residential Conveyancing Department.
Kemi is dual qualified as a Solicitor in England and Wales (since September 2004), called to the Nigerian Bar and became admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in March 1995.
Kemi started her legal career in England in 2004 gaining experience in Conveyancing, Family & Immigration Law. Kemi has over 12 years’ experience in Residential and Commercial Conveyancing and has gained a great depth of experience in dealing with a wide range of cases.
Kemi has a personable style and strives to ensure that all of my clients receive a tailored and efficient service. Kemi always adopts a pragmatic approach and looks to achieve solutions swiftly.
In her spare time Kemi enjoys cooking and spending time with her family and her friends.
Solicitor Residential and Commercial Property Department
Keury qualified as a solicitor in 2015 and has an LLB Law Degree. Keury has extensive experience in all aspects of residential conveyancing transactions and has acted for both private clients and investors (both UK and overseas) in the purchase and sale of high-value properties. Keury has also acted for the UK and international banks in the provision of funding for property transactions.
Keury able to deal with the sale and purchase of freehold and leasehold properties, re-mortgages, shared ownership properties, lease extensions (acting for both landlords and tenants) and the transfer of equity.
Keury also has experience in commercial property matters acting for both landlords and tenants. Matters have included the acquisition of commercial leases; drafting and negotiating of new leases and the surrender of existing leases.
Maria has been a conveyancer for over 35 years with a wealth of experience starting at the GLC Legal and Parliamentary Department, the National Freight Corporation and then Vivash Hunt now Vivash Brand. Maria deals with all elements of conveyancing principally freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, mortgages and re-mortgages, transfers of equity and transfers at an undervalue and Assents. Maria also undertakes Help to Buy purchases Leasehold Extensions and Enfranchisement work and first registrations of unregistered land.
